I wake with life potent
in my belly,
knowing there are tender words to be spoken,
and more grace waiting for me,
than I have ever felt before.
How is the world
new to me every day?
How can this invitation to everything
be waiting beside me,
while I’m still hiding under the covers?
I rise to chase wonders’ tail
into the hallway,
out the back door,
smelling the sweet rain brushed Cedars and Pines,
as they yearn for the light,
so they can exhale that one blessed breath,
the Forest’s “yes” to the Sun’s
irresistible seduction.
If I stand with them and listen,
swaying as they do,
I can feel their joy.
We are together in communion,
welcoming another day.
