Becoming Ourselves
What if the first Grasshopper made all Grasshoppers just by yearning to be?
read or listen:
What if the first Grasshopper
made all Grasshoppers
just by yearning to be?
She was the shape of her desire,
swimming hard against nothingness,
her urgency crafting prismed wings
and strong stick thighs that flexed
finally shooting her into the air
for that first
short flight,
that she might drift in the sky
for a moment.
All other Grasshoppers
move in her wake,
leap the way she first did
dancing nimbly through the green world.
She was conjuring herself
as we all do,
each day reaching for flight
we know belongs to us,
without really understanding why.
We are,
each of us,
every day,
desires blossom
resting on the cusp of
yet another beginning.
"She was conjuring herself
as we all do,
each day reaching for flight
we know belongs to us,
without really understanding why."
My god man. Chef's kiss. Thank you.
